A concrete slab leak refers to a leak in the plumbing system that runs beneath or through a concrete slab foundation of a building or home. This can occur in either the cold water supply lines or the hot water lines.
A slab leak can cause a number of problems, such as decreased water pressure, higher water bills, foundation damage, and even mold growth. Detecting a slab leak can be challenging as it is often not visible or audible, but there are some signs that may indicate its presence, such as damp or warm spots on the floor, cracks in the walls or flooring, or the sound of running water when no faucets are turned on.
If you suspect a slab leak, it is important to have a professional plumber inspect the plumbing system to locate the source of the leak and determine the best course of action to repair it. In some cases, a minor repair can be made to fix the leak, while in other cases, more extensive repairs may be required, such as re-routing the plumbing lines to avoid the damaged area.
Care One Plumbing has completed several slab leak repairs in Riverside, Norco, Corona, and Chino Hills recently! Seems to be a run on slab leaks lately? I'm not sure if this is just coincidence, seismic related or just bad luck for these Riveriside, Norco, Chino Hills, Corona homeowners.
Our office has taken multiple calls for Leak Detection service, Electronic leak Location, hot spots in the floor, high water bills, and water running noise in the walls. When our office hears these types of customer concerns we dispatch our Leak Detection Expert to evaluate the situation. Leak Detection can be a tricky thing to master, depending on several factors such as size of the leak, if the leak is hot water or cold, if the leak is under a cabinet or in a concrete footing, under a toilet or a shower, there are endless leak possibilities.
So Determining where a leak is located is only part of the problem! once the leak is located next concern is how is it corrected? do we open the concrete slab and repair the leak there, or is the leak in an area that it cant be accessed? if so the line may need to re-routed.
At that point the manifold needs to be located and the leaking line isolated and the feed disconnected to prepare for re-routing. We would then open any walls needed to run the new waterline through and then tie back into the fixture or manifold if another exists. Once complete the system is pressure tested and the concrete slab and walls are prepared for patching, we then close them up as needed and clean up the work area.
Ontario, CA 91761 We recently completed the repairs and replacement of a 8" double check valve fire device for a large commercial building that was recently put on the market. We had to special order new rising stems for the OS&Y gate valves for the Kennedy Gate Valves that were cut off for their brass scrap value. We had to shut down and drain the building to be able to remove the top half of the valves. We pulled them apart and then removed the damaged stems and packing gland and o-ring. we then cleaned up the valve and made sure there was no debris in the wedge portion of the valve. We then placed the new stems into the wedges and then placed them into the valve bodies, we then replaced the bonnet o-rings and then placed the top half of the valves back into position.
We bolted everything back up and tightened up the packing nut and gland back up and Blamo! were ready for water! We got the water back up and refilled the system! we checked it out for leaks on the valve and inside the building! A-OKAY! good to go! We also completed the replacement of a sump pump for the load dock sump pit. We special ordered the pump because it was a odd configuration 1 1/2" discharge with a 50' cord and was wired in 230 volt single phase. We got it placed into the pit and pulled the new cord and wired up and tested it! there were some electrical repairs needed to the breaker, but we got that resolved and fired it up!
